New Venture in Felting

I have been so very busy with my sick father-in-law. But I feel the need to create! So, I gathered some old wool sweaters and scarves. I am going to try my hand at felting. I figured it would be hard to mess this up. My hope is to throw them in the washer and end up with some great felted fabric to work with at some point.

Wish me luck! Since I am "trying" to ruin sweaters, it probably won't work.

  2. YOu really do need some ART THERAPY girl!!! You will love the whole felting thing- ruining sweaters is really foolproof unless you are working with superwashed wool items. Avoid labels that say SuperWASHED- it is a relatively new thing so you should be fine working with old sweaters!! Have fun and take some handstitching and embellishing work with you when you have to be at Dr appointments or whatever!! your father in law is very lucky to have you!
    Hugs!

  3. That is a great idea. I didn't much like the idea of hauling around crochet in hospitals......too many germs and all. Small embroidery or sewing project would be good.

    Thanks for the idea Elizabeth!

So far, the felting has been a project. My new washer with no agitator is not the greatest "felter". I am having to do a lot of it by hand...but that is ok. My husband thinks I am loopy.......ruining sweaters. He doesn't see the vision...lol.
