Butcher Paper

Has anyone ever done any printing or painting on butcher paper. I have some ideas, but didn't want to invest 20.00 on a huge roll of paper until I was sure if it was good to work with.

What did you do with the papers after you painted them?

  1. I think that it is a grat investment. I ahve used butcher paper for all kinds of cool paper techniques- it is great because it is heavy enough to stand up to crumpling and painting and repeating many times- you get soemthing that looks like leather. Google leather look paper techniquwes. I aslo know many artists who cover their work tables with it and then when it is really messy and covered with paint they take the paper off and use it for journal pages and to cover storage boxes and evnfor wrapping paper!!! Also it is a great starting point for journal paper of paste paper or painting your own papers to use in collage later!!

    Go for it!!!

  2. That sounds great! That is sort of what I was thinking. But I hadn't considered just covering my workspace with it. I like that idea.

I think I am going to get some tomorrow!

    Thanks Elizabeth.

  4. Seems like you could do most anything on it! Spray it after drawing on it to preserve it or use it to stamp on then collage it to your art journal. Use acrylics on it for colorful background paper that you add to a sturdier surface. Heck after painting it, use it for wrapping paper!
